Entre padres y hermanos. Lazos de sangre y prácticas políticas de los allegados a muertos en contextos de violencia (Ciudad de Córdoba, Argentina); Between parents and siblings. Blood ties and politics of the people familiar with the deads in context of violence (Cordoba, Argentina)
This article is part of a broader ethnographic and comparative research that addresses networks of family, social and political relationships linked to violent deaths in popular neighborhoods of Córdoba, Argentina. The text reflects on the complex and problematic articulation between politics and family, from the analysis of the tensions that sparked the organization of a protest march to demand justice around the violent death of a young man. Through the sequence of events, I propose to discuss, on the one hand, the tendency of certain studies to focus on those “families of victims” who seem to be more “politicized”, such as mothers and fathers, hiding other relatives that are essential for regulating the conflicts that raise a violent death. On the other hand, I discuss the prevailing normative approach in the academic literature, insofar as it finds the State and the formal justice as almost exclusively focuses on the experiences and demands of the “families” and, therefore, as the only possible ways to solve conflicts. As I will try to show, I believe that the Academy tends to uncritically reproduce native hierarchies of kinship and, therefore, the differential ways in which parents, siblings and other relatives are linked to the State, justice and other specialized organizations.
Antifascismo y redes sociales en provincia : El Ateneo de Cultura Popular de Tandil, 1935-1936; Anti-fascism and social networks in the province: Ateneo de Cultura Popular, Tandil (1935-1936)
Pasolini, Ricardo Oscar
Its main purpose is to identify the mechanisms of ideas circulation between a cultural center and its periphery, and, at the same time, to look at the context in which such ideas are received. Starting from the theoretical assumptions of social network analysis, it is intended to analyze the relationship web activated in the cultural center dynamics to explain its closure reason. Thereby, it presents the structural and interactional dimensions of the social network in which the actors are embedded. Finally, the article can be considered an intellectual exercise to understand social spaces of cultural practice where not professionalized activities dominate.

Most particle detectors used in astroparticle physics have an optoelectronic device that senses generated light and converts it into an electrical pulse. Photomultiplier tubes are commonly used, particularly those with multiple anodes. Prior to coupling to a detector system these tubes must be fully characterized, which requires either the same number of data acquisition channels as outputs or a switching-multiplexer system. Given that every project has its own requirements, the testing system must be as flexible as possible. The multiplexer presented here can be used to test silicon photomultipliers or any high-frequency signal. It is a scalable 64 to 4 channel analog devicedesigned for low crosstalk and low attenuation. Results of the application of this multiplexer with a −3 dB bandwidth of 800 MHz are shown by testing 64-channel tubes for the AMIGA project.
Nanostructured terbium-doped ceria spheres: Effect of dopants on their physical and chemical properties under reducing and oxidizing conditions
Acuña, Leandro Marcelo; Muñoz, Fernando Francisco; Albornoz, Cecilia Andrea; Leyva de Guglielmino, Ana Gabriela; Baker, Richard; Fuentes, Rodolfo Oscar
In this work, nanostructured Ce1−xTbxO2−δ (x = 0.1 and 0.2) spheres were synthesized by microwave assisted hydrothermal homogeneous co-precipitation and their properties were characterized by synchrotron radiation X-ray diffraction (SR-XRD), X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and scanning and high resolution electron microscopy (SEM and HRTEM) with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). Spherical particles with average diameters around 200 nm were obtained in excellent yields. In order to compare the effect of the morphology on the physico-chemical properties, terbium-doped ceria nanopowders were also synthesized by a cation complexation method. In situ SR-XRD, X-ray absorption near-edge structure (XANES) and extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) experiments were carried out under reducing and oxidizing conditions in order to investigate the redox behaviour of these materials and to evaluate the oxidation state ratios in the Ce3+/Ce4+ and Tb3+/Tb4+ couples. All of the Ce1−xTbxO2−δ samples were found to have a cubic crystal structure (Fm[3 with combining macron]m space group). The spheres were composed of nanoparticles with an average crystallite size of about 10 nm. In situ XRD experiments showed an increase in lattice parameters on reduction which was attributed to the reduction of Ce4+ and Tb4+ cations to Ce3+ and Tb3+, which have larger radii, and to the associated increase in the VO concentration. The effect of the synthesis method on structural properties was evident in that the percentage of Tb present as Tb3+ in the nanostructured spheres was larger than that in the nanopowders of the same elemental composition.
Visual analytics in cheminformatics: user-supervised descriptor selection for QSAR methods
Martínez, María Jimena; Ponzoni, Ignacio; Diaz, Monica Fatima; Vazquez, Gustavo Esteban; Soto, Axel Juan
The design of QSAR/QSPR models is a challenging problem, where the selection of the most relevant descriptors constitutes a key step of the process. Several feature selection methods that address this step are concentrated on statistical associations among descriptors and target properties, whereas the chemical knowledge is left out of the analysis. For this reason, the interpretability and generality of the QSAR/QSPR models obtained by these feature selection methods are drastically affected. Therefore, an approach for integrating domain expert?s knowledge in the selection process is needed for increase the confidence in the final set of descriptors.
The use of arabic gum, maltodextrin and surfactants in the microencapsulation of phytosterols by spray drying
Di Battista, Carla Agustina; Constenla, Diana Teresita; Ramírez Rigo, María Veronica; Piña, Juliana
The addition of phytosterols in aqueous-based food matrices is challenging because of their poor physicochemical properties (non-water soluble and hydrophobic powder). By using spray drying, phytosterols microparticleswere formulated and developed in thiswork. Arabic gum, maltodextrin and one of two different surfactantswere thoroughly studied aswall materials. Increasing concentrations ofTween 20 (T20) or sodiumlauryl sulfate (SDS), from 0.1 to 2.65% w/v, were evaluated. The feed suspension characteristics (viscosity, interfacial properties and particle size distribution), process yield (PY), encapsulation efficiency (EE), phytosterols retention (R) and size of the microparticles were analyzed. The presence of surfactants in the suspension to be spray dried has significant effects on the studied responses. T20 led to process yields around 65% (2% w/v surfactant concentration). On the other hand, the microparticles obtained using 2% w/v of SDS were the best in terms of EE (about 50%), R (closeto 40%) and particle size (5.89 μm), being the PY acceptable (almost 55%). According to the open literature, which indicates that average particle sizes lower than 25 μm favor the phytosterols bioavailability, the microparticlesobtained in this work are promising for phytosterols delivery.
Relaciones de interacción entre antofagasta de la sierra y el Valle del Bolsón (Catamarca, Argentina): primeros aportes desde la alfarería ca. 900-1600 D.C.; Relationships of interaction between antofagasta de la sierra and the Bolson Valley (Catamarca, Argentina): first contributions from pottery ca. AD 900-1600
Puente, Veronica
The issue of pottery production practices between ca. AD 900-1,600 as a mechanism, to study relations of social interaction and local dynamics within and between settlements located in different environments (valley and puna) is addressed. Specifically, the information generated on the Bolsón Valley (Belén) and Las Pitas river basin (southernpuna, Antofagasta de la Sierra), Catamarca, Argentina is compared. The interaction between the two regions was recorded from different lines of evidence demonstrating a bound history. The first results obtained from the analysis of technological and aesthetic ceramic assemblages are presented. The circulation of certain vessels as well as of ideas materialized in styles, stylistic resources and aesthetic standards is proposed. As a result, it is suggested that the potters of Antofagasta made their pottery by combining stylistic resources present in the ceramics of the Valliserrana area of northwestern Argentina but using their own techniques and local raw materials.
Injection of iodine to the stratosphere
Saiz López, Alfonso; Baidar, S.; Cuevas, Carlos Alberto; Koening, T. K.; Fernandez, Rafael Pedro; Dix, Barbara; Douglas E. KINNISON; Jean-Francoise LAMARQUE; Xavier Rodriguez-Lloeveras; Campos, T.L.; Volkamer, Rainer
We report a new estimation of the injection of iodine into the stratosphere based on novel daytime (solar zenith angle < 45°) aircraft observations in the tropical tropopause layer and a global atmospheric model with the most recent knowledge about iodine photochemistry. The results indicate that significant levels of total reactive iodine (0.25-0.7 parts per trillion by volume), between 2 and 5 times larger than the accepted upper limits, can be injected into the stratosphere via tropical convective outflow. At these iodine levels, modeled iodine catalytic cycles account for up to 30% of the contemporary ozone loss in the tropical lower stratosphere and can exert a stratospheric ozone depletion potential equivalent to, or even larger than, that of very short-lived bromocarbons. Therefore, we suggest that iodine sources and chemistry need to be considered in assessments of the historical and future evolution of the stratospheric ozone layer.
The relative influence of goal and kinematics on corticospinal excitability depends on the information provided to the observer.
Mc Cabe, Sofia Ines; Villalta, Jorge Ignacio; Saunier, Ghislain; Grafton, Scott T.; Della Maggiore, Valeria Monica
Viewing a person perform an action activates the observer's motor system. Whether this phenomenon reflects the action's kinematics or its final goal remains a matter of debate. One alternative to this apparent controversy is that the relative influence of goal and kinematics depends on the information available to the observer. Here, we addressed this possibility. For this purpose, we measured corticospinal excitability (CSE) while subjects viewed 3 different grasping actions with 2 goals: a large and a small object. Actions were directed to the large object, the small object, or corrected online in which case the goal switched during the movement. We first determined the kinematics and dynamics of the 3 actions during execution. This information was used in 2 other experiments to measure CSE while observers viewed videos of the same actions. CSE was recorded prior to movement onset and at 3 time points during the observed action. To discern between goal and kinematics, information about the goal was manipulated across experiments. We found that the goal influenced CSE only when its identity was known before movement onset. In contrast, a kinematic modulation of CSE was observed whether or not information regarding the goal was provided.
Vendemmia, Estefania Beatriz; Pintado, Olga Ines; Gomez, Mercedes Nieves
Estos objetos estudiados, con tipos espectrales no estrictamente solares, fueron observados con el espectrógrafo EBASIM de CASLEO.; The high metallicity in stars with planets could favor the formation of planets either through the model of nuclei accretion or the instability of the disk. Because of this there is great interest in studying the atmospheres of stars that host planets. We present results of the study of atmospheres of this type of stars, analyzing abundances of some relevant chemical elements and stellar parameters such as effective temperature, surface gravity and microturbulence velocity. These objects studied, with spectral types not strictly solar, were observed with the CASLEO EBASIM spectrograph.
Screening parameters for the relativistic hydrogenic model
Lanzini, Fernando Gabriel; Di Rocco, Hector Omar
We present a Relativistic Screened Hydrogenic Model (RSHM) where the screening parameters depend on the variables ( ) nl j, and the parameters ( ) Z N. These screening parameters were derived theoretically in a neat form with no use of experimental values nor numerical values from self-consistent codes. The results of the model compare favorably with those obtained by using more sophisticated approaches. For the interested reader, a copy of our code can be requested from the corresponding author.
El dólar no está a salvo
Rapoport, Mario Daniel
The writing there presents an approximation to the novel I, the Supreme one of the Paraguayan writer Augusto Roa Bastos. At first takes as its starting point the parentage of the narrative of Roa Bastos with humanism of existentialism of the twentieth century, understanding his writing in commitment to human pain and his own time. From this, at the following times of writing problems such as obsession with absolute power and cancellation of otherness characterized by a speech in which different voices are absorbed in the monologue of the dictator are addressed and therefore thereof are deformed. From the above mentioned deformation a particular relation arises nevertheless between the fiction and the historical novel. Thereby would indicate that, from the point of view of the historical novel, the History is not exempt from the fiction, and that undoubtedly this one has great that to illuminate brings over of the History.
El científico cultural, ese artefacto sofisticado. Warburg entre Burckhardt y Nietzsche
Losiggio, Daniela
Forms of vitality play and symbolic play during the third year of life
Español, Silvia Ana; Bordoni, Mariana Gabriela; Martínez, Mauricio; Camarasa, Rosario; Carretero Perez, Soledad
This article focuses on the development of forms of vitality play, a recently described type of play, and links it to the development of symbolic play, one of the most studied types of play in developmental psychology. Two adult–infant dyads were videotaped longitudinally during in-house free play meetings every 15 days during the third year of life. Convergence technique was applied in order to accelerate the longitudinal study. A total of 17 h 48 min were registered in 28 sessions. An observational code with categories of forms of vitality play (a non-figurative play frame in which child and adult play together with the dynamics of their own movements and sounds in a repetition–variation form), symbolic play, and categories of combined patterns of both types of play was applied. The rate of each play was calculated for different age periods. Forms of vitality play is present at a constant rate during the third year of life. Symbolic play flourishes during this period. Combined play patterns are not the most frequent but are present from the beginning to the end of the third year. We suggestthat FoVP favours intimate and intersubjective experiences essential to the understanding and the development ofthe interpersonal world;thatit can be thought of as a good runway for the development of symbolic play; and that it prepares the child to participate in the temporal arts that belong to his culture.
Experimental and analytical study of the motion of a sphere falling along an inclined plane in still water
Martino, Román Gustavo; Paterson, Agnes; Piva, Marcelo Fabian
In this work, the transient regime of motion of a sphere, that falls along an inclined smooth plane, submerged in still water, is studied experimentally and analytically. Several experiments were performed, with spheres of different diameters and densities, and two slope angles. The measurements show that the motion of the sphere presents two well defined stages: a transitional regime, where the sphere rapidly accelerates from rest, and an asymptotic regime, where the sphere moves with constant velocity. Closed expressions, for the position and velocity of the sphere as functions of time, are obtained by direct integration of the motion equations. This theoretical analysis is based on the empirical correlation for the drag coefficient as a function of the Reynolds number of the sphere, that was proposed by Chhabra and Ferreira [2] for the experimental data set of Jan and Chen [1]. The analytical solution shows good agreement with experimental results, for a wide range of experimental conditions.
Phytophthora austrocedri elicitates changes in diterpene profile of austrocedrus chilensis
Olate, Verónica Rachel; Vélez, María Laura; Greslebin, Alina Gabriela; Schmeda Hirschmann, Guillermo
The populations of the Andean Cupressaceae Austrocedrus chilensis have been severely affected by a disease caused by the phytopathogenic fungus Phytophthora austrocedri. A study was undertaken to disclose changes in the resin composition of P. austrocedri-infected individuals, including naturally infected and artificially inoculated trees, compared with healthy A. chilensis trees. GC-MS and 1H-NMR studies showed a clear differentiation among healthy and infected resins, with the diterpene isopimara-8(9),15-dien-19-ol as a relevant constituent in resins from infected trees. The effect of resin fractions from P. austrocedri infected trees on the pathogen was assessed by measuring the mycelial growth in agar plates. The most active fractions from resin obtained from infected trees inhibited fungal growth by nearly 50% at 1 mg/dish (35.37 μg/cm2). The main constituent in the active fractions were 18-hydroxymanool and the aldehyde torulosal. Both compounds are oxidation products of manool and can be a chemical response of the tree to the pathogen or be formed from the pathogen as a biotransformation product of manool by microbial oxidation. While the diterpene profiles from A. chilensis tree resins can easily differentiate healthy and P. austrocedri infected individuals, the possible conversion of manool to the antifungal derivatives 4 and 6 by the microorganism remains to be established.
Variaciones espaciales y temporales de la deriva litoral, SE de la Provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina; Spatial and temporal variations of the litoral drift, Southeastern Buenos
Aires Province, Argentina
Isla, Federico Ignacio
In certain sectors, groyne construction is not giving the same results they did in the sixties to eighties. It was speculated that potential longshore drift has diminished. Several attempts have tried to estimate this transport, or at least the magnitude of waves and storms that seem to have a signifi cant role with this transport. A compilation of scattered data about the subject confi rms a minimum drift amount of 100,000 m3/year. However, certain issues should be considered. The number of storms per year (locally called “sudestadas”) has a signifi cant weight in the northwards coastal transport.
As wave statistics is completely dependent on the location where they are measured, wavebased models should be handled with much care. Groyne fi elds increase the density of rip currents and therefore are responsible for a reduction of the longshore transport. However, there are natural variations of the coastal dynamics and transport that are also explaining morphological changes that occurred during the Holocene.
This paper deals with Tertullian’s conception of man in the context of the previous apologetic tradition. Such as Justin of Rome and Irenaeus of Lyons did before, Tertullian assumes a positive consideration of the human body –properly the flesh-. The author sometimes presents it as the primordial element of human definition. However, he also pays special attention to the soul as a fundamental aspect of human constitution. In order to identify whether one of these aspects prevails ontologically over the other in his anthropological thought, we first analyze the concepts of corpus, caro and anima developed by Tertullian in De anima. Then we will make some references to Adversus Marcionem. Finally our conclusion suggests that tertullian´s anthropological approach reflects a unitary conception of man which includes both the flesh and the soul.
The work of the Uruguayan Cristina Peri Rossi provides privileged material when analyzing certain modulations that Latin-American culture proposes between aesthetics and politics. If we draw an arch between Indicios pánicos (1970) and Desastres íntimos (1997), two key books in her production, it is possible to read not only certain manners in which the issue of dictatorships – both the militarized one and the political dictatorship on the sexed bodies – establishes a continuum in her texts but, also, the way in which the authoress enables a political and contracultural response – that tries to dismantle any hegemonic codification and to denounce the repetitions of History – starting on the erotization of the writing.
