Cosmological horizons, Noether charges and entropy
Donnay, Laura; Giribet, Gaston Enrique
It has recently been shown that, in the vicinity of their event horizons, black holes exhibit an infinite-dimensional symmetry. This symmetry captures relevant physical information about the black hole, and in particular about its thermodynamics. Here, we show that the same holds in a cosmological setup. More precisely, we show that around the de Sitter cosmological horizon, an infinite set of diffeomorphisms preserving a sensible set of boundary conditions emerges. These boundary conditions are similar to those considered by Price and Thorne in the context of the membrane paradigm, and permit to accommodate interesting gravity solutions. As for other boundary conditions considered previously, they are preserved by an infinite-dimensional asymptotic isometry algebra that includes supertranslations and two copies of the Virasoro algebra. This symmetry has associated a set of Noether charges that turn out to be conserved, finite, and integrable. We derive these charges explicitly using the covariant formalism and analyze their physical meaning by evaluating them to the case of de Sitter space. In this case, the zero-mode of the charge is found to account for the Gibbons-Hawking entropy of the cosmological horizon. We then consider a much more general set of solutions, including asymptotically de-Sitter black holes and asymptotically Taub-NUT-de Sitter black holes.
A history of the homosexual liberation front and left-wing politics in Argentina
A history of the homosexual liberation front and left-wing politics in Argentina; Una historia del frente de liberación homosexual y la izquierda en Argentina; Uma história da Frente de Libertação Homossexual e a esquerda na Argentina.
Insausti, Santiago Joaquin
Emerging during the seventies in Argentina during the political radicalization and inspired by the rise of the New Left, the Homosexual Liberation Front (Spanish acronym FLH) attempted an alliance with a variety of organizations on the left. My research will trace the mutations in the political discourse and strategies shaping the attempts at allying with the left-wing over time, as well as the tensions and contradictions that it created among both the rank and file, within the FLH, and other organizations.; Surgido en la década del setenta en Argentina en un clima de radicalización política y dentro del marco de la nueva izquierda, el “Frente de Liberación Homosexual” apostará a una alianza con las organizaciones de izquierda.

The Poaceae constitute a taxon of fowering plants (grasses) that cover almost all Earth?s inhabitable range and comprises some of the genera most commonly used for human and animal nutrition. Many of these crops have been sequenced, like rice, Brachypodium, maize and, more recently, wheat. Some important members are still considered orphan crops, lacking a sequenced genome, but having important traits that make them attractive for sequencing. Among these traits is apomixis, clonal reproduction by seeds, present in some members of the Poaceae like Eragrostis curvula. A de novo, high-quality genome assembly and annotation for E. curvula have been obtained by sequencing 602Mb of a diploid genotype using a strategy that combined long-read length sequencing with chromosome conformation capture. The scafold N50 for this assembly was 43.41Mb and the annotation yielded 56,469 genes. The availability of this genome assembly has allowed us to identify regions associated with forage quality and to develop strategies to sequence and assemble the complex tetraploid genotypes which harbor the apomixis control region(s). Understanding and subsequently manipulating the genetic drivers underlying apomixis could revolutionize agriculture.

En este trabajo nos proponemos analizar quiénes fueron estas 31 maestras destacadas a partir de un estudio basado en esta fuente, donde relevaremos: en qué institución/es estudiaron y en qué año/s se titularon, cuál era su estatus civil, qué trabajos tuvieron y cuáles fueron sus otras actividades por fuera del ámbito laboral.; In this article we will present the study of a group of normal teachers belonging to different generations, which were considered part of the intellectual and professional elite of the capital city of the province of Buenos Aires and for that reason, their names appeared in the edition of the biographical dictionary, Who's Who in La Plata of the year 1972. In this work we propose to analyze who were these 31 teachers featured from a study based on this source, where we will show: on what institution they studied and what year/s were titled, what was their civil status, jobs had and which they were their other activities.

"Trasvasamiento generacional no es trasvasamiento ideológico". La revista Extra y el conflicto interno en el peronismo (1973-1974); Generational transfer is not ideological transfer: The Extra magazine and the internal conflict in Peronism (1973-1974)
Iturralde, Micaela; Borrelli, Marcelo Hernan
This article analyzes the editorial positioning of the magazine Extra directed by Bernardo Neustadt against the internal conflict in Peronism since the assumption of Héctor Cámpora to the presidency in May 1973 until the death of the then president Juan Domingo Perón in July 1974. The objective is to discursively analyze the treatment that gave rise to these disputes, to the growing political radicalization of their factions and to the process of "ideological depuration" against their leftist revolutionary sector since the end of 1973. The paper concludes that Extra tried to position itself as representative of the "political center", highlighting the role of Perón as the axis for "national unity" and criticizing the revolutionary sectors of the Peronist left.

Eragrostis curvula (Schrad.) Nees (weeping lovegrass) is an apomictic species native to Southern Africa that is used as forage grass in semiarid regions of Argentina. Apomixis is a mechanism for clonal propagation through seeds that involves the avoidance of meiosis to generate an unreduced embryo sac (apomeiosis), parthenogenesis, and viable endosperm formation in a fertilization-dependent or -independent manner. Here, we constructed the first saturated linkage map of tetraploid E. curvula using both traditional (AFLP and SSR) and high-throughput molecular markers (GBS-SNP) and identified the locus controlling diplospory. We also identified putative regulatory regions affecting the expressivity of this trait and syntenic relationships with genomes of other grass species. We obtained a tetraploid mapping population from a cross between a full sexual genotype (OTA-S) with a facultative apomictic individual of cv. Don Walter. Phenotypic characterization of F1 hybrids by cytoembryological analysis yielded a 1:1 ratio of apomictic vs. sexual plants (34:27, X2 = 0.37), which agrees with the model of inheritance of a single dominant genetic factor. The final number of markers was 1,114 for OTA-S and 2,019 for Don Walter. These markers were distributed into 40 linkage groups per parental genotype, which is consistent with the number of E. curvula chromosomes (containing 2 to 123 markers per linkage group). The total length of the OTA-S map was 1,335 cM, with an average marker density of 1.22 cM per marker. The Don Walter map was 1,976.2 cM, with an average marker density of 0.98 cM/marker. The locus responsible for diplospory was mapped on Don Walter linkage group 3, with other 65 markers. QTL analyses of the expressivity of diplospory in the F1 hybrids revealed the presence of two main QTLs, located 3.27 and 15 cM from the diplospory locus. Both QTLs explained 28.6% of phenotypic variation. Syntenic analysis allowed us to establish the groups of homologs/homeologs for each linkage map. The genetic linkage map reported in this study, the first such map for E. curvula, is the most saturated map for the genus Eragrostis and one of the most saturated maps for a polyploid forage grass species.

The present work tries to expose some advances of my thesis of doctorate in History that proposes to investigate in the experiences of a set of detainees disappeared survivors of the spaces of clandestine detention centers of the Sub-Zone 51 in different political contexts, during the last military dictatorship and in the rest of the decade of the eighties. The relevance that justifies the study of these actors is the fact that they were protagonists of the political unrest of the sixties and seventies, being for this reason some of the main subjects of repression; and also, because having survived that experience turned out to be one of the main channels for knowing the scope of dictatorial clandestine repression. Type II supernovae (SNe II) show strong hydrogen features in their spectra throughout their whole evolution, while type IIb supernovae (SNe IIb) spectra evolve from dominant hydrogen lines at early times to increasingly strong helium features later on. However, it is currently unclear whether the progenitors of these SN types form a continuum in pre-SN hydrogen mass or whether they are physically distinct. SN light-curve morphology directly relates to progenitor and explosion properties such as the amount of hydrogen in the envelope, the pre-SN radius, the explosion energy, and the synthesized mass of radioactive material. In this work, we study the morphology of the optical-wavelength light curves of hydrogen-rich SNe II and hydrogen-poor SNe IIb to test whether an observational continuum exists between the two. Using a sample of 95 SNe (73 SNe II and 22 SNe IIb), we define a range of key observational parameters and present a comparative analysis between both types. We find a lack of events that bridge the observed properties of SNe II and IIb. Light-curve parameters such as rise times and post-maximum decline rates and curvatures clearly separate both SN types and we therefore conclude that there is no continuum, with the two SN types forming two observationally distinct families. In the V band a rise time of 17 d (SNe II lower and SNe IIb higher), and a magnitude difference between 30 and 40 d post-explosion of 0.4 mag (SNe II lower and SNe IIb higher) serve as approximate thresholds to differentiate both types.

Generaciones y configuraciones militantes en un sindicato docente: ATEN, 1997-2007; Generations and militant configurations in a teachers trade union: ATEN, 1997-2007
Aiziczon, Fernando Cristian
The following article aims to enquire about the generational changes that occurred in the trade union militancy of teacher’s ATEN (Association of Education Workers of Neuquén) around the last great strike in 2007, where the teacher Carlos Fuentealba was assassinated. Thereafter it can be delimited a contemporary generational political trajectory in ATEN’s unión militancy, taking as a starting point the first great strike that took place in 1997. Considering the retrospective impact caused by the last strike action (2007), and on the analysis of oral interviews and trade union documents, this article demarcates historical periods in which the new generations understand the construction of their identity and deploy their militancy within the union. Our hypotesis is that the traumatic way in which the last strike was experienced, shed light about previous transformations that were operating in the subjetivity of the new generations of teachers, which indicates a question mark on the practices that constituted the novel tradition of this trade union.

Dual peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-α/γ (PPARα/γ) agonists regulate both lipid and glucose homeostasis under different metabolic conditions and can exert anti-inflammatory activity. We investigated the potential dual PPARα/γ agonism of prenylated benzopyrans polycerasoidol (1) and polycerasoidin (2) and their derivatives for novel drug development. Nine semisynthetic derivatives were prepared from the natural polycerasoidol (1) and polycerasoidin (2), which were evaluated for PPARα, -γ, -δ and retinoid X receptor-α activity in transactivation assays. Polycerasoidol (1) exhibited potent dual PPARα/γ agonism and low cytotoxicity. Structure–activity relationship studies revealed that a free phenol group at C-6 and a carboxylic acid at C-9′ were key features for dual PPARα/γ agonism activity. Molecular modeling indicated the relevance of these groups for optimal ligand binding to the PPARα and PPARγ domains. In addition, polycerasoidol (1) exhibited a potent anti-inflammatory effect by inhibiting mononuclear leukocyte adhesion to the dysfunctional endothelium in a concentration-dependent manner via RXRα/PPARγ interactions. Therefore, polycerasoidol (1) can be considered a hit-to-lead molecule for the further development of novel dual PPARα/γ agonists capable of preventing cardiovascular events associated with metabolic disorders.
Exports, Terms of Trade and Economic Growth: Evidence from Countries with Different Level of Openness
Exports, Terms of Trade and Economic Growth: Evidence from Countries with Different Level of Openness
Dabús, Carlos Darío; Delbianco, Fernando Andrés
This paper explores the effects of the ratio exports/GDP and the terms of trade on growth among countries with different level of development and openness. These effects vary among subgroups of countries with different openness and per development level. Nonetheless, in general the evidence seems to support the hypothesis stated in this research. In less developed or better endowed for export countries one or both of the explanatory variables mentioned above encourage for economic growth. Specifically, in advanced economies only the ratio exports/GDP is growth promoting when these are open, and have high per capita but small global GDP and/or relative advantages to be growth export-led. In turn, exports or and the terms of trade trends to promote growth in lower middle income countries. Unfortunately, the surprising results came from the poorest countries. They do not are benefited from a more favourable foreign environment. On the contrary, exports are not significant while an improvement in the terms of trade diminishes their growth.

PhiA, a peptidoglycan hydrolase inhibitor of brucella involved in the virulence process
PhiA, a peptidoglycan hydrolase inhibitor of brucella involved in the virulence process
del Giudice, Mariela Giselda; Romani, Alexis Mariano; Ugalde, Juan Esteban; Czibener, Cecilia
The peptidoglycan in Gram-negative bacteria is a dynamic structure in constant remodeling. This dynamism, achieved through synthesis and degradation, is essential because the peptidoglycan is necessary to maintain the structure of the cell but has to have enough plasticity to allow the transport and assembly of macromolecular complexes in the periplasm and outer membrane. In addition, this remodeling has to be coordinated with the division process. Among the multiple mechanisms bacteria have to degrade the peptidoglycan are the lytic transglycosidases, enzymes of the lysozyme family that cleave the glycan chains generating gaps in the mesh structure increasing its permeability. Because these enzymes can act as autolysins, their activity has to be tightly regulated, and one of the mechanisms bacteria have evolved is the synthesis of membrane bound or periplasmic inhibitors. In the present study, we identify a periplasmic lytic transglycosidase inhibitor (PhiA) in Brucella abortus and demonstrate that it inhibits the activity of SagA, a lytic transglycosidase we have previously shown is involved in the assembly of the type IV secretion system. A phiA deletion mutant results in a strain with the incapacity to synthesize a complete lipopolysaccharide but with a higher replication rate than the wild-type parental strain, suggesting a link between peptidoglycan remodeling and speed of multiplication.

Andriotti Romanin, Enrique Salvador; Tavano, Carolina Sofia
This article proposes to analyze the link between some Human Rights organizations from Argentina and the kirchner governments, observing, on the one hand, the public policies that stood out most, linked to the treatment of the dictatorial past (1976-1983), promoted by different state agencies between 2003-2015, and on the other hand, the repercussions (or not) that those public policies had in the government and State representations built within the organizations, which cooperated and confronted the kirchner governments. The methodological approach is qualitative, allowing the treatment of different sources: interviews, documents from the organizations and their testimonies in the written press, also consulting official documents, laws and decrees, and testimonies of public officials, to study the public policies developed in those years.
Ramallo, Francisco
The processes of recording the past in education commonly forget their pedagogic power, thus paradoxically contributing to nostalgic, fossilized accounts. However, the matrix junction of narrative research and critical pedagogies fosters the composition of stories that invigorate and inhabit a more sensitive past —one which is more polite towards life. We hereby aim at disturbing the classical perspectives of History of Education with the partial, fluent and provisional intention of intervening in coloniality and the normalization of the legitimacy of “the” educational narrative. Specifically the objective is a (re) of a past —the past of Argentinian high schools— from a methodology of narrative research —which weighs both the data of the field and the reflections on what is done with them—; by the abolishment of its forms and the inversion of its enunciation as a means to fostering gestures leading to what we call a (de) composition of pedagogy. Preoccupation that becomes paramount to stop interpreting it as a social science that studies education, because in this way it is usually relegated to its systemic, technical and disciplinary use. The stories collected from the Argentinian high schools, dislocate it from its classical notion to try to understand it as a narrative in which human relations of education are verbalized in an extended and vital sense. In short, they activate a discursive power as a condition to restore other ways of knowing, being and knowing.
Niemetz, Diego
From its specificity, the Shoah has become both an object of representations and an object of analysis, whose study exceeds the historiographical field. The concept of postmemory (emerged in the 1990s to name the stories that the children or grandchildren of genocide survivors inherited from their elders) is an example on how the Shoah, as a problematically transmissible experience, forces to extend the frontiers of understanding and, therefore, to develop more effective tools and strategies. In this paper we analyze "Camino a Auschwitz", a graphic novel of contemporary Argentine literature, which can be read as an example of postmemory and which allows, therefore, to consider the relevance of the concept at the present time. Our hypothesis is that postmemory in art is the manifestation of the relationship between the descendants and the inherited stories. At the same time, these stories, reflect the persistence, in the lives of the descendants, of the massive trauma caused by the Nazi machinery.

In most cases the reprimand based on physical punishment is naturalized. In this sense, different stu dies indicate that frequently, those adults who have suffered different forms of abuse in their childhood tend to reproduce them on their children,so that the idea that parenting patterns are, to a large extent, learned by from the caregiver's own experience. In the case of child abuse, different studies indicate that this type of events, highly stressful,in many cases is configured as traum atic, establishing itself largely as precursors in the development of different psychiatric disorders in adulthood. The present work has as objective to make a review of the state of the art of the problem of child abuse and the development of psychiatric disorders in adulthood, for this purpose we analyze materials from different databases such as Scielo, PsycINFO, Redalyc, Scopus, EBSCO.

In the present work we propose to analyze the ways in which the security problem crosses the school institution, focusing on its capacity to construct subjectivities through the coordination and tension of different forms of interpellation, which we associate with a politics of compassion, a policy of repression and a policy of right. We start theoretical and methodological from an anthropological perspective, which allows us to explore the school everyday of two peripheral schools in the city of Rosario, province of Santa Fe, Argentina. Based on these concrete experiences of state institutions and agents, we take the analysis of the causes of insecurity beyond material conditions to reflect on three problems that cross the school: the blurring between legal and illegal, stigmatization –of places and people– and erosion of the imaginary of the future.
