de Sousa, María Elisa; Fernandez Van Raap, Marcela Beatriz; Rivas, Patricia; Mendoza Zélis, Pedro; Girardin, Pablo; Pasquevich, Gustavo Alberto; Alessandrini, José Luis; Muraca, Diego; Sánchez, Francisco Homero
Magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles are proper materials for Magnetic Fluid Hyperthermia applications whenever these conjugate stability at physiological (neutral pH) medium and high specific dissipation power. Here, magnetite nanoparticles 9–12 nm in size, electrostatically stabilized by citric acid coating, with hydrodynamic sizes in the range 17–30 nm, and well dispersed in aqueous solution were prepared using a chemical route. The influence of media acidity during the adsorption of citric acid (CA) on the suspension’s long-term stability was systematically investigated. The highest content of nanoparticles in a stable suspension at neutral pH is obtained for coating performed at pH = 4.58, corresponding to the larger amount of CA molecules adsorbed by one carboxylate link. Specific absorption rates (SARs) of various magnetite colloids, determined calorimetrically at a radio frequency field of 265 kHz and field amplitude of 40.1 kA/m, are analyzed in terms of structural and magnetic colloid properties. Larger dipolar interactions lead to larger Néel relaxation times, in some cases larger than Brown relaxation times, which in the present case enhanced magnetic radio frequency heating. The improvement of suspension stability results in a decrease of SAR values, and this decrease is even large in comparison with uncoated magnetite nanoparticles. This fact is related to interactions between particles.
Vibrational, electronic and structural properties of 6-nitro- and 6-amino-2-trifluoromethylchromone: An experimental and theoretical study
Avendaño Jiménez, Leonor Patricia; Echeverría, Gustavo Alberto; Piro, Oscar Enrique; Ulic, Sonia Elizabeth; Jios, Jorge Luis
Two 2-trifluoromethylchromones, 6-nitro-2-trifluoromethylchromone (1) and 6-amino-2-trifluoromethylchromone (2) were synthesized and characterized by NMR (1H, 13C and 19F), UV-Vis, vibrational (IR and Raman) spectroscopy, MS spectrometry, and compound (1) also by structural X-ray diffraction methods. This substance crystallizes in the monoclinic P21/c space group with Z=4 molecules per unit cell. In the solid, the fused rings and the amino group of (1) are coplanar and the trifluoromethyl group adopts a nearly staggered conformation. The NMR, vibrational and electronic spectra were discussed and assigned with the assistance of DFT calculations.

Cappelletti, Marcelo Ángel; Casas, Guillermo; Cedola, Ariel Pablo; Peltzer y Blanca, Eitel Leopoldo
In this paper, we present a study about Si and GaAs space solar cells by means of numerical simulations. We have investigated the variations of the short-circuit current, open circuit voltage and maximum power point, before and after the devices were irradiated with 10 MeV protons and fluences between 109 and 1013 p+ /cm2. The simulation results allow to obtain the optimum solar cell with specific requirements for space applications.
Striking differences in the biological and molecular properties of onion and garlic isolates of onion yellow dwarf virus
Giovani Celli, Marcos Giovani; Torrico Ramallo, Ada Karina; Kiehr, Mirta; Conci, Vilma Cecilia
Complete nucleotide (nt) and deduced amino acid sequences of two onion yellow dwarf virus (OYDV) isolates showing mild and severe symptoms in onion but being unable to infect garlic were determined. The genomes consisted of 10,459 and 10,461 nt (without the 3’ poly(A) tail) and were 92.2 % identical. Comparison of their whole genomes, polyproteins and P1, HC-Pro, P3, CI, VPg and NIa-Pro regions with those of garlic isolates previously identified as OYDV gave percentage values below that proposed as the molecular threshold for potyvirus species demarcation. This and the striking differences in host range between onion and garlic isolates suggest that they represent different virus species.
Cuatro temas y cuatro continuaciones posibles para la teoría de Carlos Nino; Four themes and four possible consequences for the theory of criminal Carlos Nino
Gargarella, Roberto
The article tries to understand approaches to punishment in the light of democratic theory. This work is well spent exploring four possible developments that could be made from the work of Professor Carlos Nino in the penalty area, taking into account the latest research of the value of democratic deliberation. In what follows, the paper points to four criminal law issues that merit a new study in the light of democratic theory and Nino developing. The work, therefore, refers to the following: i) own requirements from a deliberative conception of democracy, in regard to the forms of creation (covering its interpretation and application) of criminal law (origin); ii) the implications of such assumptions about the origins of the law on state authority and particularly the authority of the State to justified punishments (authority); iii) the impact that could have on the state justification blame budgets and commitments that are characteristic of deliberative democracy (criminal penalty); iv) the special protection that deliberative democracy might require about behaviors that today tend to be discouraged or criminalized, as social protest (social protest). Thus, the study is the introduction to a research agenda possible Nino's work, intended to "cross" your criminal studies and the studies of democratic theory.
This present paper seeks to develop an initial analysis on the comic female character Violencia Rivas, from a gender perspective. The character chosen, played by the comedian actor Diego Capusotto in his contemporary TV show Peter Capusotto y sus videos is the core object of analysis on which I will reflect upon some key questions that will guide the inquiry for this paper: how can a character from the 60s inspire a diametrically opposed version in 2010; what kind of added-value is given to this long term parody; how is the fictional and the real character placed with regard to the social and moral values as well as to the feminine demands; what are the implications of the grotesque quality acquired by the character when played by a maletransvestite performer? Bearing in mind these questions, the present paper will aim to focus on the aesthetic mechanisms of the humour resources such as parody, satire and irony because it is in this field of research I have been working in.
PRODAN dual emission feature to monitor BHDC interfacial properties changes with the external organic solvent composition
Agazzi, Federico Martin; Rodriguez, Javier; Falcone, Ruben Dario; Chessa, Juana Josefa; Correa, Nestor Mariano
We have investigated the water/benzyl-n-hexadecyldimethylammonium chloride (BHDC)/n-heptane:benzene reverse micelles (RMs) interfaces properties using 6-propionyl- 2-(N,N-dimethyl)aminonaphthalene, PRODAN, as molecular probe. We have used absorption and emission (steady-state and time-resolved) spectroscopy of PRODAN to monitor the changes in the RMs interface functionalities upon changing the external organic solvent blend. We demonstrate that PRODAN is a useful probe to investigate how the external solvent composition affects the micelle interface properties. Our results show that changes in the organic solvent composition in water/BHDC/n-heptane:benzene RMs have a dramatic effect on the photophysics of PRODAN. Thus, increasing the aliphatic solvent content over the aromatic one produces PRODAN partition and PRODAN intramolecular electron transfer (ICT) processes. Additionally, the water presence in these RMs makes the PRODAN ICT process favored with the consequent decreases in the LE emission intensity and a better definition of the charge transfer (CT) band. All this evidence suggests that the benzene molecules are expelled out of the interface, and the water−BHDC interactions are stronger with more presence of water molecules in the polar part of the interface. Thus, we demonstrate that a simple change in the composition of the external phase promotes remarkable changes in the RMs interface. Finally, the results obtained with PRODAN together with those reported in a previous work in our lab reveal that the external phase is important when trying to control the properties of RMs interface. It should be noted that the external phase itself, besides the surfactant and the polar solvent sequestrated, is a very important control variable that can play a key role if we consider smart application of these RMs systems.
The federal system of government guarantees constitutionally two levels of government. The central feature of such a political structure is that each level chooses their own rulers, who are in charge of shared or concurrent territorial jurisdiction, namely applying decisions on the same territory. This situation raises certain dilemmas: How political actors with inconsistent agendas and powers on the same population, can agree? What procedures allow to arrange not coincidental policies and facilitate the convergence in case of policies or common programs? Based on these considerations, this research explores intergovernmental relations experienced in three policy areas, focusing on the types and causes of the agreements reached in the federal councils (areas of meeting between the provincial governments and the national government) of each sector.
Between 1946 and 1952, many debates took place around both the local adaptation of the Soviet cultural politics and the Party’s positioning vis-a-vis a triumphant Peronism. Both problematic fronts came together, making way for the gradual abandonment of the antifascist cultural style. This process was neither automatic nor passive. The field of culture became a ground for political contest, open in some cases, overlapped in others. In that struggle a new type of militancy took shape and the relationship between culture and politics was redefined.
Dinámica de pastoreo en dos comunidades de la Puna de Jujuy, Argentina: Lagunillas del Farallón y Suripujio; Pastoral dynamic in two communities in the puna in jJujuy, Argentina: Lagunillas del Farallón y Suripujio
Wawrzyk, Ana Celeste; Vila, Bibiana Leonor
This paper presents a comparative analysis of pastoral dynamics in two different communities located in the puna or altiplano of Jujuy in order to identify the strategies employed to reduce the risk and uncertainty associated with pastoralism. Lagunillas del Farallón is located in the northwest extreme of the altiplano of Jujuy and the local pastoralists breed llamas and goats with a summer rotation. Suripujio is located in the northeast of the altiplano and this local pastoralists breed llamas and sheep with high mobility between different altitudinal environments. Among the strategies used by pastoralists we have identified: transhumance, diversity of herds, and the use of different altitudinal habitats. Here, we demonstrate that both communities use the same strategies with some differences that are mainly influenced by the availability of resources (pasture and water) at different times of the year, the ethological characteristics of the species used, the available labor, and the presence of predators in the grazing areas.

Anandamide inhibits transport-related oxygen consumption in the loop of Henle by activating CB1 receptors
Silva, Guillermo Benjamin; Atchison, Douglas K.; Juncos, Luis Isaias; Garcia, Nestor Horacio
The energy required for active Na chloride reabsorption in the thick ascending limb (TAL) depends on oxygen consumption and oxidative phosphorylation (OXP). In other cells, Na transport is inhibited by the endogenous cannabinoid anandamide through the activation of the cannabinoid receptors (CB) type 1 and 2. However, it is unclear whether anandamide alters TAL transport and the mechanisms that could be involved. We hypothesized that anandamide inhibits TAL transport via activation of CB1 receptors and NO. For this, we measured oxygen consumption (QO2) in TAL suspensions to monitor the anandamide effects on transport and OXP. Anandamide reduced QO2 in a concentration-dependent manner. During Na-K-2Cl cotransport and Na/H exchange inhibition, anandamide did not inhibit TAL QO2. To test the role of the cannabinoid receptors, we used specific agonists and antagonists of CB1 and CB2 receptors. The CB1-selective agonist WIN55212–2 reduced QO2 in a concentration-dependent manner. Also, the CB1 receptor antagonist rimonabant blocked the effect of anandamide on QO2. In contrast, the CB2-selective agonist JHW-133 had no effect on QO2, while the CB2 receptor antagonist AM-630 failed to block the anandamide effects on QO2. To confirm these results, we measured CB1 and CB2 receptor expression and only CB1 expression was detected. Because CB1 receptors are strong nitric oxide synthase (NOS) stimulators and NO inhibits transport in TALs, we evaluated the role of NO. Anandamide stimulated NO production and the NOS inhibitor NG-nitro-l-arginine methyl ester blocked the anandamide effects on QO2. We conclude that anandamide inhibits TAL Na transport-related QO2 via activation of CB1 receptor and NOS.
El Club de Cultura Socialista y la gestión Alfonsín: transición a una nueva cultura política plural y democrática; The Socialist Culture Club and the Alfonsín´s management: transition to a new political democratic culture
Ponza, Pablo Mariano
This article analyzes the foundation and the political position of the Socialist Culture Club during the government of Raúl Alfonsín (1983-1989) describing goals and interventions along his management. The text has two main concerns about this period: first, the conceptual re-signification of democracy, the attempt to cut with an authoritarian past and to expand citizen participation promoting a new political culture. Secondly, it analyzes the Alfonsin´s democratization strategy, the prosecution for human rights violations and the resistance from the military in an economic crisis environment.
Forecasting of the transformer core destruction factor by means of multivariate methods for data analysis
Díaz, G. A.; Romero Quete, Andrés Arturo; Mombello, Enrique Esteban; Furlan, Norma Lucía
In designing and building of transformers, the core destruction factor is the superposition of all effects that cause a difference between the value of the core losses calculated during the design stage of the unit and the measured value after built. In this paper, two methods for forecasting the core destruction factor are proposed. One based on Mahalanobis distance and the other one based on cluster analysis. A comparison of the results obtained by conventional calculation procedure with respect to those obtained through the proposed methodologies is developed. Finally, the expected cost savings by applying the methods proposed in this article are estimated.
The mass media and the cultural evangelical production constitute a part of the communicative contemporary offer. In this paper we center in the case of an international chain of evangelical radio who articulates a radio stations network in Latin America, and we explore the conceptions of the evangelical communications that cross and form this media space. The analysis of the discourse of the radio chain in the website and in the classes of training that gives for communicators allows to explore the joints among religiousness and media culture. On the one hand, the use of the media diversify the traditional manners of communication of the cults and, for other one, there is a evangelical communication slope consolidated by heterogeneous formats and expressions from diverse insertion in the contemporary media production.
Emulation of Synchronous Generator for Frequency Control of Smart Microgrids
Frack Auger, Pablo Federico; Martinez, Maximiliano; Molina, Marcelo Gustavo; Mercado, Pedro Enrique
Microgrids (MGs) are emerging as a new paradigm for the integration of Distributed Generation (DG) assets. These novel grid structures present significant benefits to the Electric Power System. One of the most important benefits is the reliability improvement due to the capacity of islanded standalone operation. Nevertheless, this stand-alone operation can bring some problems related to frequency control, especially in MGs with many DG units connected through power electronics interfaces. In this case, the frequency control capacity and hence the stability margins are drastically reduced. This paper presents the design and implementation of a proton exchange membrane fuel cell integrated with supercapacitor energy storage and its control strategy for the frequency control of ac-MGs.
El ocaso del positivismo jurídico incluyente; The decline of Inclusive Legal Positivism
Etcheverry, Juan Bautista
The purpose of this work is to elucidate if inclusive legal positivism can renovate legal positivism´s tradition or if it is a reflection of its decadence. To that end, the main thesis of inclusive legal positivism will be explained and it will be showed how they redefine some of traditional positivism’s thesis. Next, it will be explained in which way this redefinition of traditional thesis update or leave legal positivism tradition. On this basis, it will be proposed that inclusive positivism has difficulties to explain the objectivity of the moral principles and standards that are incorporated in current legal systems. These difficulties also affect inclusive positivism´s conception of judicial discretion. It will be also held that this version of legal positivism cannot be presented as an effective alternative against legal arbitrariness. Finally, it will be claimed that the non-evaluative approach of inclusive positivism lead to non-interesting or irrelevant outcomes.
Tsallis’ maximum entropy ansatz leading to exact analytical time dependent wave packet solutions of a nonlinear Schrödinger equation
Curilef, S.; Plastino, Ángel Ricardo; Plastino, Ángel Luis
Tsallis maximum entropy distributions provide useful tools for the study of a wide range of scenarios in mathematics, physics, and other fields. Here we apply a Tsallis maximum entropy ansatz, the q-Gaussian, to obtain time dependent wave-packet solutions to a nonlinear Schrödinger equation recently advanced by Nobre, Rego-Monteiro and Tsallis (NRT) [F.D. Nobre, M.A. Rego-Monteiro, C. Tsallis, Phys. Rev. Lett. 106 (2011) 140601]. The NRT nonlinear equation admits plane wave-like solutions (q-plane waves) compatible with the celebrated de Broglie relations connecting wave number and frequency, respectively, with energy and momentum. The NRT equation, inspired in the q-generalized thermostatistical formalism, is characterized by a parameter q and in the limit q→1 reduces to the standard, linear Schrödinger equation. The q-Gaussian solutions to the NRT equation investigated here admit as a particular instance the previously known q-plane wave solutions. The present work thus extends the range of possible processes yielded by the NRT dynamics that admit an analytical, exact treatment. In the q→1 limit the q-Gaussian solutions correspond to the Gaussian wave packet solutions to the free particle linear Schrödinger equation. In the present work we also show that there are other families of nonlinear Schrödinger-like equations, besides the NRT one, exhibiting a dynamics compatible with the de Broglie relations. Remarkably, however, the existence of time dependent Gaussian-like wave packet solutions is a unique feature of the NRT equation not shared by the aforementioned, more general, families of nonlinear evolution equations.
